Manulife Hong Kong has reportedly announced the enhancement of its Cashless Day Surgery eService, which is industry’s first entirely digitized cashless service. It was introduced in 2019, with a goal of diversifying the claims pre-approval for patients during day procedures.
Apparently, by entering the HKID (Hong Kong identity card) number and date of birth online, eligible customers will now receive speedy preapproval for the claims for over 70 categories.
As per sources, Manulife has also expanded its medical service provider network by partnering with leading medical institutions including the Hong Kong Baptist Hospital Ambulatory Medical centers and CUHK Medical Centre. It therefore provides customers diverse healthcare options and support.
The expansion of the specialist network along with the eService enhancement, is now available at around 300 designated specialists in eight major specialties.
According to Chief Operations Officer, Manulife Hong Kong and Macau, Candy Au Yeung, with the access to secure, convenient and time saving choices for high-quality medical services, day surgery facilities have grown in popularity in Hong Kong.
It is also revealed that the demand for day surgical procedures has significantly increased since the launch of Cashless Day Surgery eService around three years ago. This is especially due to a greater number of people opting for digital services since the pandemic instead of inpatient care.
Au Yeung also stated that the upgraded eService and the expanded day surgery network offers customers more options, while reaffirming the company’s unwavering commitment to improving people’s lives through better health services and claim experiences.
Reports also cite that common surgeries, such as release of trigger finger, breast biopsy, and cystoscopy, among others, that roughly accounted for 70% of the Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme approved claims led by Manulife Hong Kong in 2021 can now be performed in eligible clinics, day surgery centers, and hospitals.
The Cashless Day Surgery eService is one of several digital service series offered by Manulife for simplifying customers lives. Its other innovations include My Medical Card, ClaimSimple.hk website for eClaims and Find My Doctor services.
