Amazon India has reportedly teamed up with Magenta Mobility, a provider of integrated electric mobility and a charging solution, to deploy a fleet of EVs for its delivery partners in Hyderabad. Moreover, the company is one step closer to achieving its aim of having 10,000 EVs including two, three, and four-wheelers in its delivery fleet by 2025.

The target to bring 10,000 EVs on road for delivery services by 2025 was set by Amazon India In 2020, as part of its overall progress toward ‘The Climate Pledge’, in which the company promised to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, which is 10 years before the Paris Agreement’s deadline.

Notably, by 2030, the e-commerce behemoth plans to have 100,000 electric vehicles in its fleet worldwide. Thus, partnering with Magenta is a crucial step in accelerating the adoption of electric mobility.

Founder and Managing Director at Magenta Mobility Maxson Lewis cited that the debut of EVs in Hyderabad is a continuation of their collaboration with Amazon India, which started in Bengaluru and will enable them to convert a sizable portion of Amazon’s last-mile logistics fleet to EVs. He further added that by taking this action, the e-commerce sector will be encouraged to decarbonize last-mile delivery.

Meanwhile, to decarbonize transport logistics, the company has been at the forefront of collaborating closely with food, e-commerce, and pharmaceutical companies.

The Director of Customer Fulfillment, Supply Chain, Abhinav Singh, agreed with him and stated that they are committed to developing a supply chain process that will reduce the environmental impact on their business operations and help them reach their goal of introducing 10,000 EVs into the fleet by 2025.

It is worth mentioning that Magenta Mobility has received Series A funding from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, LetsVenture, JITO Angel Network, and Indian American philanthropist Dr. Kiran Patel.
